Exams and zombies

29/08/2026

Writing this exactly one week and a day before my first college entrance exam this year! I'm surprisingly not as anxious as I thought I would be. I think the fact that I'm pretty satisfied with my last sketches/art is helping in calming me down - for context, it's an art test ("specific abilities") so I'll have to do a creative one, following a prompt they'll provide, and an observation one, with an object they'll give us. Last year I was much more anxious mostly because I had no idea what it was going to be like and I pretty much fucked up the second one, but now I know what to expect more, and I'm a bit more confident since I know what I did wrong. - But we'll see if I'll still be this chill as the date gets closer... Let's hope that I am.

I really hope it works out well this time, this exam is worth 20% of my final score, which is a lot, and if I do really well, it'll compensate if I get a lower score in the second exam (general/specific knowledge). This and another college are the only (public) ones that are closer to my hometown, about 4 hours away, and the best choice if I want to visit my parents regularly. Also, my sister and a few friends also live in or near the city, which is big pro for me as I find terrifying (even if oh so appealing) about the idea of moving out, especially because it's a pretty big city and I come from a very, very small town.

Despite my anxiety, that even if tamed, is still there, I've been managing to study as well as doing some flashcards, not as regularly as I should but it's better than nothing. I feel like I know more than I did last year and I guess that's something! I've also just started letting my phone on focus mode full-time, so I don't use social media as much anymore, and turned off all notifications except for texts messages, just so I don't end up ignoring people by accident. It grants me an extra time that, even if I don't use it as usefully as I could, at least I'm not rotting my brain away too bad. This week I'm reading the New X-Men comics when avoiding to scroll mindlessly, I've been enjoying it very much, I forget how much I like comics.

Project Zomboid character info
My character, mid game.

I've also started playing Project Zomboid again! I think it was in July of 2025 that I first played it, not for too long as I was very bad at it and not one of my friends wanted to play with me, so my playing session weren't so fun. Now, about almost exactly a month ago, a major uptade was released, and it just hyped me up again. So I have been playing now, regularly I'd say, almost every weekend and a few rare times in the middle of the week, and I managed a pretty long run (the longest ever for me!) of 10 days! It is impressive as I still suck quite a lot in the game, and it doesn't run too well on my pc for some reason, so it get's pretty laggy sometimes.

In this last run I got as far as getting an almost 100% car, fuiled it - not an easy task with the ammount of zomboids lurking near the gas station - and filled it to the brim with loot. All I had to do was find a nice little house for a base! But, as you can imagine, it didn't end well. I found a lookout tower in the middle of the woods, and while I was looting, I fell! Surprisingly I managed to survive another night after that, but as I drove to find a place to sleep, a hourd of zomboids found me and, with a comical level of bad luck, the car's battery died, meaning I couldn't turn it on, meaning the zoomboids broke the window and killed me. Honestly it was pretty frustrating, because it was a nightmare to drive the car and I was so close to a house! Regardless, I had fun.

Anyway! It has been a pretty slow couple of months lately, but I really can't complain. I shall bring updates after the exam, send good vibes!
